Dear Alburgh Community Education Center Community,
As the 2018-2019 school year closes and our summer begins, I would like to express how grateful I am to be leading such an amazing community of students, parents, teachers and staff. I can’t thank everyone enough for the endless hours that many people dedicated to support students-both at home and at school. I am so proud of all the achievements and accomplishments of our students here at the Alburgh Community Education Center. These achievements and accomplishments could not occur without the endless energy, skills and devotion of our teachers and staff.
We are always focused on the improvement of our school in all aspects. We not only focus on the student’s academic level, but we also focus on the whole child. In this upcoming school year, we will emphasize on the social and emotional learning of our students by incorporating a guidance curriculum program called Second Step. This program comes with a full curriculum that will be implemented school-wide in the classrooms. We believe that the social and emotional learning of students impacts their academic levels.
We have also created a goal for our school for improvement in the area of attendance and family engagement. It has been proven that students who arrive to school on time and are present everyday perform at a higher level. We had an unacceptable tardy and attendance issue this past school year. We are striving to work in partnership with parents/guardians to make a significance improvement going forward.
A special thanks to you, the parents/guardians who have contributed in ways small, large and unimaginable. Thank you for your partnership between home and school, which is so important. We appreciate all that you do each and every day for our school and our students.
A final word to Alburgh Community Education Center students: Thank you for all your hard work this school year. I am so honored to be your principal; you make me proud to be a Mustang. You keep me laughing and young at heart. Best wishes to our 8th graders, whom I will miss greatly. Everyone, please have a safe and happy summer. Please remember to read daily for a minimum of 15 minutes and brush your teeth.
